She earned her medical degree at Cornell University College of Medicine, and completed her residency and chief residency in Family Medicine at Columbia University/New York Presbyterian Hospital. She has particular interests in reproductive health, preventive and lifestyle medicine and global health. Dr. Mockler's background in global and cross-cultural medicine, includes work in Madagascar, Nicaragua, Cuba, Chiapas and on the Zuni Reservation. She has carried out research about the human microbiome, specifically the impact of peripartum antibiotics on maternal infant microbiome transfer, and COVID-19, and has published on the subject of humanities in medicine.
